Job Description

The Supply Chain Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the procurement function by acting as a backup buyer, improving procurement processes, maintaining systems, building reports, and providing training to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to ensure effective procurement and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Process Improvement / Project

  • Identify areas for improvement within procurement processes, workflows, and operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs;
  • Analyze existing procurement procedures, make recommendations for process changes, and implement improvements to streamline purchasing activities;
  • Develop and document new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for procurement activities to ensure consistency across the team.

Report Building and Analysis

  • Build and maintain procurement-related reports, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and inventory turnover reports;
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support strategic decision-making within the procurement team;
  • Regularly review KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of procurement processes and identify areas for improvement.

System Maintenance

  • Maintain and update procurement systems (e.g., ERP, MRP, or procurement software) to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies;
  • Troubleshoot system issues and collaborate with IT or external vendors to resolve technical problems related to procurement systems;
  • Implement system upgrades, new features, or tools that improve procurement performance.

Training and Development

  • Provide training to new team members and other departments on procurement processes, systems, and tools;
  • Ensure all relevant staff are up to date with the latest procedures, systems, and procurement best practices;
  • Create training materials, manuals, and guides to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.

Backup Buyer

  • Serve as a backup to the primary buyers by handling purchase orders, supplier communications, and procurement tasks as needed;
  • Ensure continuity of purchasing operations during peak times, absences, or urgent procurement requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field;
  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or operations roles;
  • Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., ERP, MRP) and strong Excel skills for reporting and analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and implement new procedures;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and provide training;
  • Fluency in both oral and written English and French (English is essential for serving our U.S.-based clients);
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
