Job summary

ANDRITZ Canada is seeking a Supplier Quality Assurance Inspector to join our QHSE team in Peterborough, ON. You will review supplier quality plans, inspect components, and ensure compliance with ISO and client requirements while supporting continuous improvement.

The role involves travel within Canada and collaboration with internal engineering and procurement teams. Ideal candidates bring a mechanical or industrial engineering background, 5+ years in QA, familiarity with inspection tools, and

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum five (5) years' experience in Quality Assurance and Control, ideally in hydro turbine/generators.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ASME or similar standards is an asset.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and use inspection tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Analyze specifications, designs and ITPs to ensure supplier compliance.
• Monitor procedures and hold points during inspections.
• Manage quality reports and supplier non‑conformities with corrective actions.
• Participate in supplier qualification and client audits as needed.
• Travel within and outside Canada up to 50% of the schedule.

The Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist / Coordinator will join our Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) team. Using engineering and procurement documentation, project specifications, and inspection and test plans, you will supervise the implementation of client quality requirements and standards to ensure that manufactured hydroelectric components/equipment are following Andritz’ high-quality standards. This position is geared towards long‑term career development within our organization.

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team.

• Analyze ordering specifications, technical documents, industrial designs, inspection and test plans, and ensure that these documents give a complete and accurate description of Andritz’ compliance requirements to suppliers;
• Through inspection and monitoring, track the implementation of procedures and inspection and test plans (ITP);
• Supervise inspections and client hold points;
• Manage quality compilations/reports (Quality Reports);
• Follow up on supplier non‑compliance and the implementation of corrective or preventive actions;
• Perform in‑depth analysis of critical non‑compliance (8D – Root Cause Analysis);
• Actively participate in supplier/sub‑supplier qualification through quality audits, and participate in client audits as needed;
• Support the development of control tools or procedures, and quality assurance;
• Participate in design reviews with suppliers;
• Perform inspections for critical components in suppliers;
• Frequent national & international Travel minimum fifty (50%) of work schedule.

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or technical degree in metallurgical/mechanical or another relevant field;
• Completion of a two- or three-year college program or equivalent in industrial engineering technology, manufacturing technology or a related discipline is usually required for industrial engineering or manufacturing technologists;
• Completion of a one- or two-year college program in industrial engineering technology or in a related discipline is usually required for industrial engineering or manufacturing technicians;
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Quality Assurance and Control, ideally in hydro turbine & generators;
• Basic knowledge of ISO 9001, CWB, ASME or other standards, is an asset;
• Knowledge of common inspection tools (Vernier, micrometre, etc.) is required;
• Knowledge of automated measuring methods (FARO/laser tracker/CMM, etc.) is an asset;
• Ability to read mechanical or other drawings is an asset;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
• Effective communication skills (with internal and external clients);
• Totally available to travel both within and outside Canada;
• Functional in English (spoken and written);
• Excellent work ethics;
• Education or knowledge in health and security an asset.
