POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) - Plant Quality acts as the first line of defense for supplier quality issues in manufacturing facilities, assisting with supplier responses and onsite support as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The SDE supports the First Article Inspection (FAI) process, coordinates onsite supplier support, manages containment, follows up on Supplier Corrective Action Notices (SCANs/8Ds), and handles supplier chargebacks. Your analytical skills and strong communication will drive continuous improvement and strengthen supplier relationships. The role involves 10-20% travel.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Ensure suppliers meet high-quality standards.
• Conduct quality incident investigations using NFI methodology.
• Assist in the FAI process to verify initial samples.
• Manage onsite supplier support to resolve quality issues.
• Implement containment for supplier issues and establish clean points.
• Close SCANs and perform 8D analysis with suppliers.
• Process supplier chargebacks for non-conforming products.
• Drive supply chain continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with various departments to develop and support quality standards.
• Report supplier quality performance metrics to leadership.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in quality management systems and continuous improvement.
• Experience in supplier management and improvement.
• Strong manufacturing process systems knowledge.
• Proven problem-solving skills (8-D methodology) and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and related tools.
• Experience with AIAG quality tools (PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
