Job summary

Co-operators in Ontario seeks a Supervisor, Underwriting to lead Underwriting Operations Leads, Underwriters and Specialists. You will manage and support your teams while shaping strategic plans to improve department effectiveness.

You will develop unit plans aligned with goals, monitor budgets, and ensure underwriting decisions balance client profitability and growth expectations. This role requires strong leadership and mentoring to build an agile team.

Qualifications

• Five years successful related insurance experience or related work experience.
• Post-secondary degree in Business, Commerce or related discipline.
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is a requirement.
• Strong knowledge of insurance products, processes and practices.
• Experience in leading, mentoring, coaching and staff development.

As the Supervisor, Underwriting you will provide functional expertise and guidance to Underwriting Operations Leads, Underwriters and Underwriting Specialists. You will manage and support your teams while developing and implementing strategic plans to contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department.

Salary information

Expected salary $72,847.00 to $121,411.00 CAD

Salary placement

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Incentive/Variable pay

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
