Job summary

Woodbine Entertainment Group is seeking a Supervisor, Racing Surfaces in Toronto to lead the track team and ensure daily surface preparation is safe and efficient. The role oversees equipment, tracks maintenance and staff scheduling to support timely race operations.

You will interact with Owners, Trainers and Jockeys on surface issues, uphold safety protocols, and coordinate with the Thoroughbred Racing department to maintain top track conditions for racing events.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in Property Services and/or horse racing track surface maintenance or related field.
  • 3–5 years practical experience in a similar environment.
  • Experience operating graders, tractors and water trucks.
  • D-class license required.
  • Ability to evaluate gait of a horse to determine suitable track surface.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and supervises track staff, providing direction on track surface management before, during and after racing.
  • Daily maintenance of racing surface and ensures track and equipment are safe and functional.
  • Maintains safe working order of all Equipment and trains staff accordingly.
  • Monitors workload and develops daily work procedures and schedules.
  • Manages daily track log and ensures accuracy and efficiency.
  • Represents the racing surface department on Health & Safety committees and enforces safety protocols.
  • Addresses track surface concerns from Owners, Trainers and Jockeys.
