We are currently looking for a Supervisor of Recreational Programming and Community Engagement to join our team of committed professionals. This full-time position is based at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Durham location in Sudbury.

Under the leadership of the Center Manager of Health and Wellness, the Supervisor of Recreational Programming and Community Engagement is responsible for coordinating the operation of programs and services in the Recreation department, including youth programming, day camp, afterschool programming, and off-site community initiatives. The role includes program supervision and development, quality assurance, special events, scheduling, human resource management, meeting financial targets, and managing within the department budget, as well as staff and volunteer development according to YMCA policies, procedures, and standards.

START DATE: March 1, 2025

LOCATION: Sudbury, ON

RATE OF PAY: $44,400 - $51,000 per year

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop program initiatives to enhance member engagement and services aligned with the Health and Wellness member retention plan.
  • Challenge the status quo to develop innovative and fun programs within the YMCA’s mission.
  • Coordinate and schedule all department activities and programs to ensure budget targets are met.
  • Communicate schedules to members, participants, membership services staff, and other program staff.
  • Provide training, team engagement, and support to staff and volunteers.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with mandatory certifications.
  • Coach and support staff in engaging volunteers efficiently.
  • Participate in the performance management process with all staff.
  • Provide leadership for service delivery using Priority SAM Standards.
  • Build relationships with members and guests, promoting the YMCA as a charitable organization.
Qualifications
  • College diploma or University degree in Recreation, Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
  • Safe Food Handlers’ certificate/Adventures in Cooking certificate considered an asset.
  • High Five Certificate considered an asset.
  • Quest 2 Certificate considered an asset.
  • Healthy Child Development Certificate or equivalent considered an asset.
  • Training in gymnastics, dance, or martial arts considered an asset.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of working directly with children and youth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification.
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
