We are currently looking for a Youth Program Instructor to join our team of committed professionals. This part-time contract position within the Association is located at ourSudburybranch. Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Recreational Programming or the Manager of Day Camps & Community Development, the Youth Program Instructor is responsible for program planning and delivery to ensure participant satisfaction. The ideal candidate for this position is dynamic, able to work as part of a progressive team, enjoys working with children and youth, and is capable of managing multiple tasks.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) preferred *for education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES with their application
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Experience working/leading group activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Bilingualism in both official languages considered an asset
  • Current and Satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program, plan, and implement activities
  • Supervise, engage and participate with the program participants in group activities
  • Apply behavior management training techniques with the program participants
  • Ensure the safety of all participants, property, staff and volunteers by established practices and procedures
  • Maintain the inventory of required supplies and request more when needed
  • Communicate with parents/guardians on a daily basis
  • Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization
