Job description

Job Summary
Under general supervision, determine the quantity and order date for materials needed to meet the master production schedule. Initiate purchase or production requisitions as appropriate.

Responsibility

  • Supervisor all materials personnel.
  • Responsible for accurate inventory numbers and monthly reconciliation
  • Accurately forecast of monthly sales
  • Minimize transportation costs for: outgoing shipments and incoming materials.
  • Develop strategy towards meeting objectives with respect to effective utilization of plant capacity.
  • Ensure customer scheduling requirement are met through attainable production schedules.
  • Monitor capacity to ensure co-ordination between production and shipping schedules to meet customer needs.
  • Monitor and control work in process and finished goods inventory.
  • Monitor consigned material flow, floor space usage, and accommodate lot control traceability.

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • Graduate of Certified Materials Management Program.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Three to five years of experience in previous Materials roles.
  • Strong knowledge of NAFTA.
  • Approve estimates and invoices for materials ordered. Calculate extensions, discounts for volume purchases and taxes.
  • Ability to lead meetings and report daily operations and other materials related matters as required.
  • Select suppliers for fabrication materials, tools, and shop supplies. Consider pricing, product quality and suppliers' reputations and reliability.
  • Participate as a team member with other management staff to resolve production problems.
  • Ability to use applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Attend manufacturers' sponsored training on new equipment and materials.
