With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a dynamic school board and is seeking a full‑time Supervisor, HR General Inquiries within the Human Resources department.

Key Accountabilities

Reporting to the Manager, HR General Inquiries and Support, the primary purpose of this role is to oversee and coordinate the work of the HR General Inquiries and SEMS teams, ensuring consistent and high‑quality administrative support and excellent customer service across HR functions. The Supervisor will provide guidance, training, and performance management to staff, while also contributing to process improvements, project coordination, and operational efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of HR administrative processes, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

  • Supervise and support the daily operations of the HR General Inquiries and SEMS team
  • Assign and monitor work to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members
  • Ensure consistency and quality in documentation, correspondence, and reporting
  • Oversee the maintenance of HR systems and employee records, ensuring data integrity
  • Coordinate and support the application of grid increments and other HR processes
  • Respond to escalated HR/SEMS inquiries and provide guidance to staff on complex issues
  • Liaise with internal departments and external organizations to facilitate information flow
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement administrative procedures and tools to improve efficiency
  • Prepare reports, compile data, and conduct analysis to support HR initiatives
  • Participate in special projects and contribute to departmental goals
  • Provide backup support for HR administrative functions as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the HR Operations team
Requirements
  • Minimum of three (3) years post‑secondary education from a recognized institution in Human Resources or related field with a combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Resources or a related administrative environment, including supervisory or team lead experience
  • Relevant professional designation is an asset (CHRP/CHRL)
  • Experience working in a unionized, public‑sector environment preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) – skills assessment testing will be required for qualified applicants if previous testing was not performed
  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS systems, preferably HR Success Factors an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team‑building skills
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required to meet operational needs
  • Previous supervisory experience an asset
