Position Overview

The Supervisor, Food and Nutrition, oversees all aspects of food preparation, storage, and service, ensuring compliance with Canada’s Food Guide, Ministry standards, and Public Health requirements. The role involves collaborating with the Registered Dietitian to implement and monitor residents’ nutritional care plans, ensuring adherence to approved menus, including therapeutic and texture-modified diets, to maintain high-quality care for all residents at Glen Stor Dun Lodge.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise food preparation, storage, and service according to relevant standards.
  2. Work with the Registered Dietitian to follow residents’ nutritional care plans.
  3. Ensure compliance with approved menus, including therapeutic and texture-modified diets.
  4. Manage staffing levels and training for dietary staff.
  5. Maintain records related to food and fluid intake, menu planning, temperature logs, sanitation, staff training, and performance.
Additional Legislative Compliance
  1. Follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) standards.
  2. Adhere to Minimum Staffing Hours requirements.
  3. Ensure emergency food supply and contingency plans are in place.
  4. Participate in quality improvement programs and inspections related to dietary services.
Position Requirements
Education & Certifications
  • Graduate of a recognized Food Services Supervisory program or equivalent.
  • Member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or a Registered Dietitian.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in a unionized Long Term Care facility, with proven expertise in large quantity food preparation, financial planning, and food purchasing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Understanding of geriatric nutrition and therapeutic diets.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation (FLTCA, O. Reg. 246/22, Public Health).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; French language skills are an asset.
Additional Requirements
  • Provide two work-related references, including at least one supervisor.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.
  • Proof of certifications.
