Job summary

Marcon Construction seeks a Site Superintendent to oversee the construction process on multifamily residential projects in Vancouver, BC. You will lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors, manage safety and quality, and drive schedule adherence per Last Planner and Lean principles.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in construction management, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience on multifamily residential construction projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Trade certification or equivalent technical training in a relevant construction field.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and direct construction projects from start to finish.
  • Lead and manage site teams and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality and schedule.
  • Coordinate inspections, RFIs, submittals and document control on site.
  • Oversee budget, cost control, and procurement activities per Marcon policy.

Salary Range: $140,000.00 To $185,000.00 Annually

AbouttheRole:

Reporting to General Superintendent the Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the overall construction process and activities within the established safety, design, budget, and scheduling guidelines. The Site Superintendent would achieve high standard of project delivery and operations excellence through planning and scheduling, organizing, trade management, directing, and controlling activities on the construction site. Depending on project & team size, the Superintendent may be responsible for more than one project within a portfolio.

Key responsibilities:

  • Participatewithpre-constructionactivities.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct and control construction projects from start to finish.
  • Ensuresthatprojectsareconstructedinaccordancewithplans,specifications,shopdrawings,applicablebuildingcodes,quality,andOHSAstandards.
  • Drives the construction schedule and own the Last Planner System
  • Overseeday-to-dayfieldactivities.
  • Supervisetheactivitiesofsubcontractorsandsubordinatestaff.
  • EnsureSubcontractorsadheretoscopeofwork,schedule,safety,anddeficiencycorrections.
  • Performqualitycontroldutiesandresponsibilitiesregardingallworkbeingperformed.
  • Leadprojectmeetingswithallinternalandexternalstakeholderstomonitorandsupporttheproject’sprogress.
  • CoordinateandcommunicateRFI’s,ShopDrawingSubmittals.
  • Review drawings for constructability, identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
  • Manage materials and service purchase orders as per Marcon policy.
  • ProvideprojectreportinginaccordancewithMarcon’sstandards(includingdailylogs,photos,weeklyreports,andother).
  • Manageandoverseesitesecurity;cleanliness,organization,logistics,staging,deliverytimes,tradelock-upareas,etc.
  • Managesitepresentationincludingbrandingonsite,andensuresitesetupiscorrectlydone.
  • Maintainuptodaterecordsetofdrawingselectronicand/orpaper.
  • Assist with financial management of project (budget and cost control).
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Leadandprojectstaffandsubcontractors.
  • Participateinrecruitmentofsiteresources.
  • Conductemployeeorientationsandsitetraining.
  • Conductperformanceevaluations.
  • Fostersateamworkapproachforachievingobjectives.
  • Mentor and coach employees to allow growth and learning.

ProcessLeadership

  • PromoteandexecuteMarcon’sOperationssystemandprocesses,includingtheLastPlannerSystem.
  • EngagewithcontinuousimprovementofMarcon’sprocessandsystems.
  • EnsureandchampionuseofMarcon’sapplicationtechnologiesatthejobsite.
  • Use of key performance indicators to ensure continuous learning and improvement.

SafetyLeadership

  • PromoteMarcon’ssafetymanagementsystem,andzeroaccidentculture.
  • Ensurepro-activesafetyprocessandadherencetoOHSAregulations.
  • EnsureallsubcontractorsarefollowingMarcon’ssafetystandards.
  • Support and uphold COR certification standards.

QualityLeadership

  • EnsureMarcon’sstandardsforqualityandbrandismaintained.
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are in place for reduction of rework.
