Job summary

Newmont is hiring a Superintendent Electrical & Instrumentation for Red Chris mine in northern British Columbia. This onsite, fly‑in/fly‑out operation is advancing an underground expansion while maintaining safe, reliable E&I systems across site operations.

You will lead safety governance, ensure compliance with electrical standards, and guide a high‑performing team through preventive and predictive maintenance, asset integrity improvement, and data‑driven performance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline recognized by a relevant professional engineering body.
• Significant experience leading electrical and instrumentation maintenance, asset management, or operational teams within mining, processing, or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety legislation, statutory compliance requirements, electrical governance, and high, medium, and low-voltage systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in asset integrity, reliability improvement, risk management, and maintenance strategy development.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders, lead teams, manage operational risks, and resolve complex technical issues.
• Experience using asset management systems, maintenance planning tools, KPIs, and data‑driven performance improvement processes

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical and instrumentation safety, governance, and compliance programs, with a strong focus on fatality risk management and continuous improvement.
• Own and maintain the Electrical Safety Management Plan and related engineering safety frameworks.
• Ensure E&I systems are installed, maintained, and repaired to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies that improve asset integrity, reliability, and equipment performance.
• Monitor asset performance, analyze operational data and trends, and implement solutions to reduce risks and downtime.
• Lead audits, inspections, investigations, and assurance activities to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
• Manage budgets, resources, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver safe, cost‑effective, and value‑adding outcomes.
• Coach, develop, and lead a diverse technical team while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

Red Chris is an open‑pit copper‑gold mine in the famous Golden Triangle of northern British Columbia, situated on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. As a fly‑in, fly‑out operation, Red Chris is reached via charter flights from multiple locations in BC and Alberta, with teams working on a rotational schedule. Currently an active open‑pit producer, Red Chris is poised for an exciting transformation – we are developing a high‑value underground block cave that will extend the mine’s life for decades and unlock even more resources. The remote location fosters a close‑knit “camp” community where safety and teamwork come first. Your Impact

As a Superintendent Electrical & Instrumentation, you’ll lead the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of electrical and instrumentation systems across site operations. Acting as the Site Electrical Authority, you’ll play a critical role in strengthening asset integrity, improving reliability, managing risk, and ensuring statutory compliance while leading a high‑performing team that supports safe and efficient production

As Part of Our Team, You Will

Your Work Environment

• Leadership role within the Asset Management function, supporting site operations and maintenance performance.
• Regular collaboration with Operational Managers, Maintenance and Engineering Leaders, HS&E, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Senior Site Leadership.
• Frequent engagement with contractors, OEMs, business partners, and government and regulatory agencies.
• Responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical and instrumentation systems that support operational performance across the site.
