Job summary

Skyline Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to lead heavy civil field operations across Vancouver Island.

You will manage crews, coordinate subcontractors, equipment, and site activities while partnering with Project Managers to maintain schedules and cost controls. With 6+ years in heavy civil leadership, you will drive safety culture, oversee quality and project execution strategies, and mentor foremen.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field operations across heavy civil projects
• Schedule and coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, and site activities
• Work closely with Project Managers to maintain project schedules and productivity targets
• Mentor Foremen and junior field staff
• Develop and maintain a strong safety culture across project sites
• Monitor project progress, costs, resources, and upcoming work; identify site challenges and devise solutions
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Support preconstruction planning, site reviews, and project execution strategies
• Recognize scope changes and assist with change management
• Ensure quality standards and project specifications are consistently maintained

Position Summary:

We're partnering with an established civil construction contractor to recruit an experienced Civil Superintendent to support heavy civil projects across Vancouver Island.

This is an opportunity to lead field operations on a range of challenging heavy civil projects, working closely with project management and field teams to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day field operations across heavy civil projects
• Schedule and coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, and site activities
• Work closely with Project Managers to maintain project schedules and productivity targets
• Mentor Foremen and junior field staff
• Develop and maintain a strong safety culture across project sites
• Monitor project progress, costs, resources, and upcoming workIdentify site challenges and develop practical solutions to maintain schedules
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Support preconstruction planning, site reviews, and project execution strategies
• Recognize scope changes and assist with change management
• Ensure quality standards and project specifications are consistently maintained

Qualifications & Experience:

• 6+ years of construction leadership experience within heavy civil construction
• Proven experience successfully delivering complex heavy civil projects
• Experience managing crews, subcontractors, equipment, and multiple site activities
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project schedules, productivity, and job costing
• Comfortable working in fast-paced and technically challenging project environments
• Technical diploma or degree in engineering or construction is considered an asset
• Previous experience delivering civil projects in British Columbia is preferred
• Strong field leadership and team management skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Strong understanding of heavy civil construction operations
• Safety-focused with a commitment to quality
• Organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities
• Strong communication and client relationship skills
