Summer student position to support the following study: Benchmarking performance of Guideline-Directed Medical Therapy prescription in Heart Failure and development of a programme of improvement.

Reports to: Dr. Darshan Brahmbhatt
Work Model: Hybrid
Grade: A0:90
Hours: 35
Salary: $17.20 - $20.30 per hour. Start rate non-negotiable (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy).
Shifts: Monday to Friday
Status: Temporary Full-time
Closing Date: March 3rd, 2025.

The student will work to collect patient-level data for individuals with recently diagnosed heart failure and prescription of foundational therapies. The student will also assist in the analysis of the collected data to determine how performance meets national and international guidelines. The student will be integral to developing methods to improve performance.

Educational Objectives
  • To learn the importance of quality patient-level data collection using electronic medical records.
  • Development of quantitative analysis techniques for individual patient data.
  • Gain an understanding of quality improvement techniques, with an opportunity to put them into practice.
Proposed Deliverables at the End of the Placement
  • Performance and benchmarking results for GDMT prescription for HF patients.
  • Presentation to HF clinical group, hospital-wide QI group.
  • Submission of abstract to trainee competition of a HF-related academic meeting.
Qualifications

Education and experience required:

  • Experience with data collection.
  • Experience with using databases is an asset.
  • Student must be enrolled full-time.
  • Student must be legally able to work in Canada full-time during the position.
