Job Description

Position: Summer Student - Shipping Coordinator

Primary Location: On-Site - North Vancouver, British Columbia

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 40 hours

Reports to: Day Operations Superintendent

Compensation: $18-$21 per hour. Rates are based on role, level, location, skills, and experience. Specific rates will be discussed during hiring.

About This Role & You

You are organized, dependable, with 1–3 years of office or clerical experience, familiar with document control, data entry, and shipping coordination. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and ideally SAP. You will support the Day Operations team by managing shipment documentation, records, and communication to ensure smooth logistics.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maximize operational performance by processing shipment documentation, maintaining loading plans, and managing equipment availability.

Administrative Duties

• Support shipping needs including rail, truck, and barge coverage.
• Maintain document control database and organize transportation documents.
• Accurate data entry for dangerous goods documentation.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years in an office environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Competencies

• Relevant administrative, clerical, or payroll experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel; SAP preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to work under deadlines, and good communication skills.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to handle confidential information.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
