Student positions at CSE are unlike most others. We offer both practical and developmental work experience and allow students to be part of meaningful, exciting, projects, with the hope that they will want to join us full-time following their studies.

Communications (includes Strategic Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Social Media, Public Affairs and Media Relations)

Our Communications students have a hand in developing corporate messaging and visual identities for internal and external audiences, develop content for our social media channels and our websites, get a view on the world of advertising, build their skills in working with partners, help create memorable events for CSE, and assist in running a national public awareness campaign.

As a Communications student you could be:

• Researching, writing, and editing material for publication internally or externally
• Assisting communications officers in the implementation of communications campaigns and events.
• Providing support to the implementation and promotion of the History Program.
• Reviewing existing communications tools and designs and making recommendations to enhance client satisfaction based on available data.
• Researching and drafting social media content and developing strategies to reach wider audiences.
• Assisting in media relations work with senior colleagues
• Providing media monitoring support.
• Working collaboratively with communications colleagues in creative services, web design and translation.

Web Design

The Web Design team is looking for support in the design and coding of web content for our three external websites and our internal employee intranet.

Interested students should be able to:

• Take part in the design and creation of layouts for web pages such as events, announcements, advisories, and blog posts.
• Code web content in HTML/HTML5 and CSS.
• Provide technical and strategic advice related to websites.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the bootstrap framework or the Web Experience Toolkit (WET).
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Education

You must be registered as a full-time student in a recognized post-secondary program in a field related to the position, such as (but not limited to) communications, public affairs and media relations, marketing, advertising, or web design.

Note: The educational program must be recognized in Canada, and you must be able to provide a transcript from your most recent term. Students graduating prior to, or during, the work term are not eligible to apply.
