The Role
We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Substation Electrician (Journeyperson/Apprentice). Reporting to the Supervisor, Station Maintenance,this position plays a key role in testing, installing, and maintaining substation equipment, as well as performing cable testing, fault locating for underground systems, transformer testing, and electrical maintenance. All work must be performed in accordance with company work practices, standards, and all applicable legislation and regulations, including those under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
Candidates hired at the apprentice level will perform work appropriate to their training and experience and will assume increasing responsibility as they progress through the program under the guidance of the Supervisor and qualified team members. The successful candidate must be enrolled in, or willing to enroll in, and successfully complete the MEARIE Substation Electrician certification program, including all required training and hours. Upon completion, the individual will be recognized as a certified journeyperson.
This is an on-site, unionized position based at 1340 Brant Street, Burlington, governed by the applicable collective agreement. The role is being posted to fill an existing vacancy at Burlington Hydro and may be filled at the Journeyperson or Apprentice level, with compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
