Job summary

Burlington Hydro is seeking an Electrical Operator (Journeyperson/Apprentice) to monitor, control, and operate its distribution system on-site at 1340 Brant Street, Burlington. The role supports safety, reliability, and efficiency of system operations under OHSA and company standards.

Applicants may be hired at Journeyperson or Apprentice level, with progression through MEARIE certification and on-the-job development.

Qualifications

• Electrical Operator role requires MEARIE certification or willingness to complete the program.
• UWPC certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Valid Class G Ontario driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
• Experience with SCADA/CIS/GIS/AutoCAD is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor substations, lines, and loads within Burlington Hydro’s systems.
• Maintain control of the system during daily operations for safe, reliable operation.
• Prepare Work Protection Forms and Switching Orders; oversee switching operations.
