Capital Crossing Constructors invites applications for a Subcontract Administrator on the Alexandra Bridge Replacement Project in Ottawa-Gatineau. You will report to the Contracts Manager and support the Contracts team in managing subcontract obligations with the Civil Joint Venture partners.

The role emphasizes timely handling of variations, claims, correspondence, and documentation to keep the project on track.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • Proven experience in contract administration within construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of contract terms, conditions and legal requirements.
  • Experience with change management principles and tools.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication.
  • Detail-oriented with accuracy and completeness, and risk awareness.

  • Coordinating with design, interface, and construction teams to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Participating in processes for early notification of delays, claims or disputes.

  • Expediting Change Management through cross-functional coordination for Change Orders and Directives.

About the Project

The Alexandra Bridge Replacement Project is one of Canada's most significant infrastructure initiatives, replacing the existing Alexandra Bridge that has connected Ottawa, Ontario, and Gatineau, Quebec for more than 120 years. As a vital interprovincial transportation corridor within the National Capital Region, the bridge serves thousands of pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and transit users while forming an integral part of Confederation Boulevard. Having reached the end of its service life, the existing bridge will be replaced with a modern, resilient crossing designed to meet the region's long-term transportation needs. The Alexandra Bridge Replacement Project represents a major investment in Canada's transportation infrastructure, supporting economic growth, regional connectivity, and community development while creating opportunities for skilled professionals to contribute to a landmark project that will serve Canadians for generations.

About the Job

We are hiring a Subcontract Administrator to step into a new role for our Contracts team on the Alexandra Bridge Rehabililation Project. This position reports to the Contracts Manager.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Overseeing different topics of the Construction Contract obligation with the Client, as well as the interface obligations of the Civil Joint Venture with Systems partner, and with Operation and Maintenance partner, as required.
  • Coordinating with different departments, such as design, interface, and construction, to ensure seamless execution and fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Participating actively in processes that enable early notification of delay events, claims or disputes.
  • Providing contractual input for the Variations assessments.
  • Providing support by assessing the impact of the claim and providing data to support and defend the Joint Venture position.
  • Expedite Change Management process by liaising with multiple cross function team members to ensure timely preparation of Change Orders and Change Directives.
  • Ensure appropriate and accurate contractual correspondence with subcontractors, including preparation of minutes of meeting on Contractual matters, disputes and performance issues.
  • Assist in identification and tracking of all contractual deliverables including bonds, reports and insurance certificates and insurance claims etc.
  • Coordination with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, subcontract administration and other key matters.
  • Ensuring, with the rest of the team, compliance with contract requirements and contract management-related matters
  • Provides technical expertise to support the negotiations of major/complex subcontracts.
  • Accountable for ensuring Civil Joint Venture delivers and executes in accordance with terms of their obligations and scope of work.
  • Drafting timely and accurate contractual correspondence.
  • Keeping a record of important correspondence and events of the project (to track and record the timeline of the main topics/events).
  • Maintain organized and detailed records of all contract-related communications, changes, and agreements.
What We Are Looking For?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (About 8 years) in contract administration or management within the construction industry – major projects.
  • Strong understanding of contract terms, conditions, and legal requirements.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written English) skills are essential.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness, and ability to notice errors.
  • Ability to identify potential issues and risks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
