Job summary

Medicine Hat College's Centre for Innovation (C4I) invites applications for three Student Research Assistant positions focused on strengthening Canada's Reserve Force through whole-of-society mobilization.

As a Research Assistant you will conduct literature reviews, policy scans, and economic analyses; engage stakeholders; and help prepare briefing notes and a final report with findings and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Current students enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution who are motivated, analytical.
• Interest in defence, public policy, emergency management, workforce development.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Background or strong interest in Political Science, Business, Education or Finance.

Responsibilities

• Research and policy analysis: literature reviews, policy scans, workforce skill analysis, briefing notes and final report contributions.
• Stakeholder engagement and communications: plan activities, prepare communications, contribute to reports and presentations.
• Economics: cost-benefit and ROI analysis, research on training, recruitment, retention costs, assist in economic models.

We invite current students enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution who are motivated, analytical, and interested in defence , public policy, emergency management, workforce development and applied research to apply.

The project team will include three student researchers, each supporting a distinct area of the project:

A little about the role:

Research and Policy Analysis:

In this role, you will:
- Conduct literature reviews and policy scans related to defence readiness, emergency management, Reserve Force expansion, workforce development, and national resilience.
- Research and analyze workforce skill requirements.
- Prepare briefing notes and contribute to a final report summarizing findings and recommendations.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communications:
In this role, you will:
- Plan and organize stakeholder engagement activities.
- Prepare communications for project team and participants
- Contribute to reports, briefing notes, and presentations.
Economics:
In this role, you will:
- Support cost benefit and return on investment analysis.
- Research training, recruitment, and retention costs.
- Assist in developing evidence-based economic models.
