Job summary

The University of Alberta Students' Union is hiring two Student Events Coordinators to support New Student Orientation and Week of Welcome. SECs will work in a team environment, handling logistics, promotions, volunteer coordination, and delivery of a diverse slate of UASUevents.

You must be an enrolled undergraduate student at the University of Alberta during the term of employment and be a Students’ Union member.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate student at University of Alberta during the term of employment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and professional demeanour.
• Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Suites; familiarity with Adobe CC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, implementation, marketing, and recruitment of Students’ Union programming and special events including, but not limited to: Week of Welcome, New Student Orientation, Campus Cup, AntiFreeze, Movie Nights, SUBstage Sessions, Night at the Horrorwitz, Last Class Bash, Weekly events, and other events hosted by UASUevents.
• Be responsible for aspects of event management of various events, including: logistics, volunteer management, promotions, and same-day coordination
• Be responsible for partnership development and relationship maintenance for event success
• Support other staff members in their responsibilities, as needed to ensure the success of the entire UASUevents portfolio
• Be responsible for communication and major campaigns directed toward students through a variety of forms (Websites, Email Lists, Social Media, Marketing Projects)
• Help develop and support the Week of Welcome volunteer programs as well as assist with other UASUevents volunteer teams such as the Events Crew or Media Team. Work within guidelines and recommendations related to volunteer management as set by the organization.
• Manage digital assets including the UASUevents Network and digital media projects (still images, videos) for UASUevents
• Submit regular reports including monthly reports and project reports.
• Train within the Horowitz Events Centre in a variety of event roles
• Perform other job-related duties as required by the Manager of Programming.
