Job summary

Spectacle in Toronto is seeking a Student Optician to blend clinical know-how with a high-fashion sensibility, delivering concierge-level service and expert product knowledge for eyewear, sunwear, and vision care.

You will be the face of our mission, partnering with Optometrists and senior Opticians to ensure a seamless handoff from exam room to retail floor, while growing your clinical hours in a premium retail setting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Opticianry program and seeking to fulfill clinical hours.
• Previous experience in sales or high-touch service is required.
• Background in retail, management, fashion, or design is a big asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Availability to work a retail schedule, including weekends/evenings/events.

Responsibilities

• Provide concierge-level service guiding clients to frames matching prescription and personality.
• Demonstrate product knowledge and style advisory for eyewear and sunwear.
• Assist with pupillary distance, vertex distance, and pantoscopic tilt measurements; perform frame adjustments and basic repairs.
• Collaborate with Optometrists and senior Opticians to ensure smooth handoffs from exam room to retail floor.
• Promote Spectacle's culture and values to customers seeking more than just eyewear.

What You’ll Do

• Elevate the Experience: Provide "concierge-level" service, guiding clients through the journey of selecting frames that perfectly match their prescription and personality.
• Curate Style: Demonstrate exceptional product knowledge, acting as an expert stylist who understands face shapes, color theory, and the technical nuances of bridge fits.
• Master the Technical: Assist in precisely measuring pupillary distance, vertex distance, and pantoscopic tilt. You'll also handle frame adjustments and minor repairs with a "steady-hand" finesse.
• Think Like an Owner: Brainstorm creative ways to optimize the customer journey and improve store flow.
• Bridge the Gap: Communicate Spectacle's core values and independent brand philosophies to customers who are looking for something more than "just a pair of glasses."
• Collaborate: Work seamlessly with our Optometrists and senior Opticians to ensure a flawless handoff from the exam room to the retail floor.
