Job summary

CAE Inc. is offering a COOP-Student (Fixed Term) internship in Montreal to gain experience in enterprise networking, cloud networking, and automation.

You will work with the network engineering team, assist with troubleshooting, deployment, and documentation, and collaborate across network, cloud, cybersecurity, and application teams. Mentorship from senior engineers will help develop your troubleshooting and professional communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Network Administration, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Network Engineering team in supporting a large-scale global network environment, including LAN, WAN, Wireless, Internet, and SD-WAN services.
  • Participate in troubleshooting network issues alongside senior engineers and technology partners.
  • Help monitor network performance and identify service-impacting issues.
  • Assist with ticket management activities and communication updates to business stakeholders.
  • Participate in network deployment, upgrade, and modernization initiatives.
  • Assist with testing and validating new network solutions and technologies.
  • Support documentation efforts, including network diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Help maintain accurate information in network management tools and platforms.
  • Learn how enterprise applications connect to cloud environments.
  • Support activities related to cloud networking services and internet technologies.
  • Gain exposure to concepts such as DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, load balancing, and application connectivity.
  • Assist with automation initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to scripting, reporting, and process improvement activities.
  • Learn modern automation and Infrastructure-as-Code approaches using tools such as Ansible, Python, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in projects focused on reducing manual operational tasks through automation.
  • Work closely with network, cloud, cybersecurity, and application teams.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute ideas and solutions while learning industry best practices from experienced professionals.
  • Receive mentorship and coaching from senior network engineers and architects.
  • Develop troubleshooting, technical, and professional communication skills.
  • Gain exposure to enterprise-scale technologies and business-critical infrastructure.
  • Build practical experience that will accelerate your career in networking, cloud, or infrastructure engineering.

What You’ll Do
Learn and Support Enterprise Network Operations
  • Assist the Network Engineering team in supporting a large-scale global network environment, including LAN, WAN, Wireless, Internet, and SD-WAN services.

Contribute to Infrastructure Projects
  • Participate in network deployment, upgrade, and modernization initiatives.
  • Assist with testing and validating new network solutions and technologies.
  • Support documentation efforts, including network diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Help maintain accurate information in network management tools and platforms.
Gain Exposure to Cloud Networking
  • Learn how enterprise applications connect to cloud environments.
  • Support activities related to cloud networking services and internet technologies.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Network Administration, or a related technical field.
  • Strong interest in enterprise networking and infrastructure technologies.
  • Basic understanding of: TCP/IP networking, Routing and switching concepts, DNS and Internet fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a hands-on mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or other enterprise networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Basic scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
  • Knowledge of GitHub or automation concepts, or Ansible.
  • Experience gained through labs, academic projects, certifications, or personal learning initiatives.
