Job summary

CAE is seeking an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join the Infra Ops team in Montreal. You will build, automate, and operate CAE's hybrid infrastructure platform spanning Azure, OpenShift, and on‑premise environments, supporting day-to-day operations, incident response, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in infrastructure or SRE, strong automation skills (PowerShell, Python, YAML, Ansible), and fluent French and English.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft infrastructure technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, certificates).
  • Minimum 5 years in infrastructure operations, cloud operations, or site reliability engineering.
  • Automation experience with PowerShell, Python, YAML, Ansible or similar.
  • Git-based workflows for infrastructure as code and automation.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, observability, incident response and reliability practices.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Motivated, team-oriented, ownership mindset and results-driven.
  • Bilingual in French and English required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and evolve hybrid infrastructure across Azure, OpenShift and on‑prem tech.
  • Support migration from VMware to OpenShift Virtualization and cloud-native services.
  • Own and improve core infrastructure platform services, including RDS next gen., automation workflows, and tooling.
  • Develop automation to reduce manual work and support provisioning, patching, configuration, monitoring, remediation.
  • Design and operationalize self-service infrastructure for internal teams.
  • Improve reliability via monitoring, alerts, incident response patterns, runbooks and capacity management.
  • Collaborate with app, cloud, security and infra teams to modernize consumption and standards.

As a member of the Infra Ops team, you will build, automate and operate CAE's hybrid infrastructure platform spanning Azure, OpenShift and critical enterprise infrastructure services. You will help modernize traditional infrastructure into reliable, automated platform services that enable application teams to deliver faster and more securely.

The ideal candidate is not only a traditional systems administrator. They are an infrastructure engineer who thinks in terms of platforms, automation, reliability and scalable operating models, while supporting day-to-day operations, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities For The Infrastructure Operations Engineer Role
  • Operate and evolve hybrid infrastructure services across Azure, OpenShift and supporting on-premises technologies.
  • Support the migration from VMware-based infrastructure toward OpenShift Virtualization, cloud-native services and modern platform operations.
  • Own and improve core infrastructure platform services such as Remote Desktop Services (RDS next gen.), automation workflows and operational tooling.
  • Develop automation to reduce manual work, improve repeatability and support infrastructure lifecycle activities such as provisioning, patching, configuration, monitoring and remediation.
  • Contribute to the design and operationalisation of self-service infrastructure capabilities for internal technical teams.
  • Improve reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident response patterns, runbooks, capacity management and resilience practices.
  • Partner with application, cloud, security and infrastructure teams to modernise infrastructure consumption and promote platform standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft infrastructure technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, certificates and related enterprise services.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in infrastructure operations, cloud operations, site reliability engineering or a similar technical role.
  • Practical automation experience using PowerShell, Python, YAML, Ansible or equivalent automation frameworks.
  • Experience using Git-based workflows to manage infrastructure as code and automation.
  • Understanding of monitoring, observability, incident response and operational reliability practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High motivation, teamwork, ownership mindset and results-oriented approach.
  • Bilingualism in French and English required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering or supporting OpenShift, Kubernetes, Azure Red Hat OpenShift or similar container platforms.
  • Experience with GitOps practices and tools such as Argo CD.
  • Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code technologies.
  • Experience with OpenShift Virtualization, VMware migration, virtual machine lifecycle management or hybrid workload modernisation.
  • Experience with Ansible Automation Platform and reusable automation catalogue development.
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor or similar observability technologies.
  • Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, resilience engineering, performance and capacity management.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow integration, operational workflows, ITIL practices or incident management processes.
