Aramark, on SMU Dining Services, invites student Food Service Worker to join the Dockside Dining Hall at Saint Mary's University in Halifax. You will support food preparation, learn safety standards, and deliver friendly service to guests.

Prior food service experience isn't required; you will be trained. The role is on-site, part-time, with a pay rate of $17.50 per hour. Applicants must be students; accommodations available.

As a Student Food Services Worker on the SMU Dining Services team at Saint Mary's University, not only will you play an important part in helping us prep food and follow safety guidelines, but you’ll master customer service and social skills! Job Responsibilities

• Prepares and builds food items according to standardized recipes and directions
• Properly stores food in accordance with standards
• Sets up workstations including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, steam tables, etc.
• Breaks down, cleans, and sanitizes workstations
• Serves food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction and anticipating the customers’ needs
• Replenishes food items and ensure product is stocked to appropriate levels
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guest, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
• Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including food safety and sanitation
• Ensures security of company assets

Qualifications

• Food service experience an asset
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Additional certification may be required by work location
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
