Job summary

Aramark at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, NS, is seeking a Food Service Worker to help create an exceptional on-campus dining experience for students, staff and faculty.

The role includes light cash handling, safe food prep at assigned stations, stocking displays, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to Aramark and university policies. This is a union position with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Previous food service experience is an asset.
• Experience as a server is an asset.
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset.
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Ability to work effectively in supervised and unsupervised settings.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all customers.
• Light cash handling duties including processing customer transactions, balancing float, participating in audits.
• Educate customers on menu items, daily features, dining hall events.
• Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of surrounding work area.
• Food preparation in accordance with menu at assigned station.
• Stock and merchandise shelves, cereal and bread bar, salad bar, and coolers.
• May wash and sanitize dishes and utensils.
• Record temperatures, label products in accordance with FIFO, complete waste log and cleaning log.
• Adhere to all Aramark and Saint Mary's University policies and procedures.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50.
