Job summary

Algonquin Students’ Association in Pembroke is seeking an Athletics Support Staff to help deliver athletic and recreation activities for the Algonquin student body. You will monitor the gym and climbing wall, assist with equipment setup, and engage with students while promoting upcoming events.

The role requires flexibility, reliability, and good customer service. You will work with the Operations Assistant to prioritize tasks and support general facility operations on a part-time basis.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as an Algonquin College student for the 2026/2027 school year.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the Gymnasium and Climbing Wall to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
• Change climbing holds and routes regularly.
• Check waivers before allowing each user on the climbing wall.
• Engage with students and promote upcoming activities.
• Collaborate with the Operations Assistant to prioritize tasks.
• Set up, rearrange, and dismantle equipment as required.
• Serve as an on-site contact during external rentals and promote a welcoming atmosphere.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and engagement across facilities.
• Assist with inventory management and exchange of athletics equipment.
• Follow closing procedures and report issues or equipment malfunctions.
• Uphold health and safety protocols per Ontario laws.
• Assist in maintaining the Gymnasium and Fitness Zone facilities.
