Job summary

Brock University is seeking a Student Experience Coordinator within the Goodman School of Business to design and implement programs engaging the student body and fostering belonging. You will coordinate events, support competition teams, and craft regular communications for all students.

The role requires 2–5 years in an academic setting, strong event planning, leadership, and collaboration skills, with a hybrid work arrangement and meaningful campus impact.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Business or a closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of the student experience with the ability to coach, mentor, motivate and demonstrate leadership.
  • Extensive event planning and time management skills, the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of student engagement trends and post-secondary best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web applications; comfortable with bespoke software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of programs and events inclusive for all Goodman students.
  • Coordinate Welcome Week and transition activities to enrich the student experience.
  • Collaborate with student clubs and Brock departments to support engagement programming.
  • Create and manage student communications and promotional content.

About the Role:

Working within the Communications and Engagement team of the Goodman School of Business (GSB), the Student Experience Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and assessing programs and opportunities that engage the wider Goodman School of Business student body and builds a spirit of belonging to Goodman. The Student Experience Coordinator will coordinate events, prepare competition teams and prepare regular communications to all students.

  • Lead the design, development and implementation and coordination of programs, extracurricular events, and continual programming/events that are inclusive for all Goodman students;
  • Foster a spirited and prideful environment that enhances the student experience and motivation;
  • Collaborate with student clubs to provide them with the tools required to create successful events;
  • Monitor and evaluate student engagement programs to promote the personal development of a diverse student population;
  • Collaborate with Goodman departments and student life units across Brock University to co-create and implement engagement programming for Goodman students (Experience BU, etc.), under the direction of the Manager, Student Experience;
  • Coordinate with the Director, Communications and Engagement to develop alumni/student mentorship opportunities;
  • Lead the design, organize, coordinate and implement all aspects of an extensive Welcome Week (formerly Orientation Day) and transition activities for the Goodman School of Business to enrich the student experience;
  • Work with the Business Students’ Association, the Brock University Student’s Union, the Brock Welcome Week committee and Brock International to ensure all Goodman Welcome Week activities adhere to the Universities protocols and vision and work into the approved schedule;
  • Lead all aspects of Goodman’s competition program, including recruitment of student participants, engagement of faculty coaches and mentors, coordination of logistics, travel, registration and risk management requirements, and the development of faculty-led training opportunities to prepare students for participation in competitions and conferences;
  • Create and manage effective student communications, including promotional content, success stories, engagement campaigns, and responses to student inquiries;
  • Develop and provide workshops and presentations for competitions, programming and welcome week activities; and Monitor, assess and report on student experience initiatives through participation data, feedback and outcome measures, providing recommendations to enhance programming, increase student engagement and support continuous improvement.
Key Skills and Experience:
  • An undergraduate degree in Business or a closely related field;
  • A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in an academic capacity, working with students and/or youth worker;
  • Strong understanding of the student experience with the ability to coach, mentor, motivate and demonstrate leadership;
  • Ability to research, learn, teach, train and disseminate knowledge;
  • Extensive event planning and time management skills, the ability to juggle multiple and competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines;
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and a high level of self-motivation and autonomy;
  • Knowledge of student engagement trends, post-secondary best practices, and legal risk requirements;
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to compose, proofread, and edit written materials;
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office (Word, excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) web applications, internet search engines, social media, and ability to adapt to custom software such as Workday, Brock DB; and Past experience directing, guiding and mentoring staff/volunteers.
Preferred or Asset Skills:
  • Understanding of student government/student unions an asset;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management;
  • Experience in a post-secondary institution.

Salary and Total Rewards:
Job Grade [J], Salary Scale $57,267.00 - 91,627.00 Target Hiring Range: $57,267.00 - 62,115.00*

This is a permanent position that includes:
