Job summary

Samuel, Son & Co. is seeking a data analytics intern in Hamilton, ON. The role focuses on data extraction, cleaning, and reporting of purchasing and vendor data to identify cost-saving opportunities.

You will monitor indirect spend, support strategic decisions, and assist in supplier segmentation while building dashboards in Excel and Power BI. The position requires current enrollment in a related post-secondary program and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical background with experience manipulating and interpreting data.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling); familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
• Solid understanding of supply chain fundamentals, procurement concepts, or vendor management.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to summarize complex data into clear findings.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Data analytics & reporting: Extract, clean, and analyze purchasing and vendor data to track cost-saving opportunities and generate insights.
• Trend & spend analysis: Monitor indirect vendor spend patterns, market trends, and historical performance metrics to support decision-making.
• Supply chain segmentation review: Assist in categorizing and segmenting indirect suppliers based on spend, risk, and impact.
• Dashboard support: Build and update visual reports and dashboards (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
