Job summary

New Frontiers School Board seeks an Attendant for Handicapped Students to support students in school activities and ensure safety and hygiene during daily routines. The role includes assisting with mobility, positioning, meals, and personal care under an individualized education plan, with collaboration with teaching staff.

Responsibilities include supervising during breaks and activities, transporting students safely, and reporting observations to the care team.

Qualifications

• Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in assistance to patients or residents in health care establishments, a Secondary V School Diploma or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority and have one (1) year of pertinent experience in those areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology and human relations skills.
• Requires self-discipline, basic psychology and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist handicapped students in participating in activities related to schooling and help move between locations.
• Ensure well-being, hygiene and safety according to individualized education plan.
• Supervise students during recess, meals, naptime and recreation, and accompany them to pool.
• Administer medication per school policy and provide first aid when needed.
• Record observations and inform teachers/parents per individualized education plan.
