Meet our legal team here!

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Student-at-Law, you'll play a hands-on role in advancing personal injury and employment claims through every stage of litigation. This position is designed to help you learn, grow, and contribute to a phenomenal client experience across all our practice areas. You'll work closely with our Associate Lawyers, supporting litigation and every other legal step involved in managing a file. Along the way, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of legal work, from conducting legal research and drafting commencement and non-commencement court documents, to attending Questionings, private mediations, and court appearances. At the core of this role is a commitment to outstanding client service: we're looking for someone who will work alongside our team to deliver the best possible result, and an unforgettable experience, for every client.

You Will:
  • Provide excellent client care, including regular contact by telephone, email, and in person
  • Track and manage Statement of Claim filing and service limitation deadlines
  • Assist Associate Lawyers with Questionings, including reviewing and understanding client files in preparation, while training toward independently conducting Questionings
  • Prepare litigation-related legal documents and conduct legal research on client matters
  • Develop a complete understanding of the life of a client file and its various phases
  • Stay up to date on Rules of Court, industry-related materials, and relevant legal changes
  • Quantify personal injury claims by reviewing evidence and applicable case law, gathering relevant information from clients, and drafting settlement proposals
  • Quantify employment claims by reviewing evidence and applicable case law, and drafting demand letters and Human Rights complaints
  • Conduct liability investigations as necessary
  • Attend Court for chambers applications as necessary
  • Prepare for private mediations and alternative dispute resolutions, including drafting briefs
  • Perform notary public duties
  • Complete all Law Society requirements, forms, and CPLED courses
Who You Are:
  • You believe no lawyer is an island: every team member at a law firm makes an equally important contribution, and you see traditional law firm culture as outdated
  • You're known for a positive, helpful attitude and excellent people skills
  • You bring exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy to everything you do
  • You're a proactive, resourceful thinker with strong analytical skills
  • You're committed to personal growth, a fast learner who loves developing and perfecting new skills
  • You're enthusiastic about workplace culture, build strong relationships easily, and handle sensitive situations with empathy, tact, and confidentiality
  • You take pride in your time management, professionalism, and discretion
  • You've demonstrated leadership in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
Minimum Education and Experience:
  • J.D. or LL.B. from a faculty of common law at a Canadian University OR an equivalent program approved by the Federation of Law Societies' National Committee on Accreditation (NCA)
  • Access to a vehicle for transportation
  • A valid driver’s license
