Job Summary:
The Human Resources Student will play a supportive role in the Human Resources department of the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA). The Human Resources Student will be primarily responsible for supporting the Human Resources team by performing various administrative functions and participate in HR projects that promote continuous growth and learning. The Human Resources Student position provides students with valuable development through real-life work experience.
Qualifications:
• Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
• Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
• Third year or higher in post-secondary program with an accredited College/University in Business/Business Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, or a related program
• Ability to work with all levels of staff (independently or part of a team) internally/externally and build relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent client service skills with the ability to earn and retain client confidence.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.
• Strong computer skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs
• Knowledge of one of the First Nations dialects within the Sioux Lookout Region is a definite asset.
• Knowledge and experience related to First Nations and corporate governance including the First Nations political environment and background is an asset.
• Knowledge of all Provincial legislative standards and guidelines as they relate to the recruitment process (e.g., ESA, OHSA, AODA, Ontario Human Rights Code, etc.).
• Ability to perform the requirements of the role on a regular basis.

•Support various HR generalist activities including recruitment, onboarding, HR reporting and analytics, creation and maintenance of HR databases, and health and safety
•Assist with day-to-day employee requests
•Assist with data entry in Human Resources Information System (UKG)
•Support the HR team to ensure deadlines are met
•Assist with administrative functions
•Assist in the planning and organizing of the HR Health Careers Camp and related activities
•Other duties as assigned
