Job summary

Babcock Canada in Winnipeg is seeking an AME apprentice or graduate to maintain and repair CL Water Bombers, Commander 690 and similar aircraft. You will diagnose, test and document maintenance using aviation tools and diagnostic equipment.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork and high standards of workmanship. The candidate should be enrolled in or have completed a Transport Canada AME program, be fluent in English, and be willing to travel 2–4 weeks and work shifts.

Qualifications

• Enrolment in an accredited Structures AME program or graduate of a TC AME diploma program.
• Proficiency in English, written and spoken.
• Ability to travel outside Winnipeg; willing to deploy 2–4 weeks.
• Physically able to sit, stand, walk and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Work on CL Water Bombers, Commander 690 and similar aircraft.
• Maintain, repair, test and diagnose aircraft structures and systems.
• Use aviation tools, diagnostic equipment and computers.
• Record labor and maintenance tasks accurately.
• Follow all safety procedures, policies and regulations.
• Assist with daily maintenance tasks and collaborate with team.

To determine final salary, Babcock considers a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer is at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

Description

• Work on CL Water Bombers, Commander 690 and similar types of Aircraft.
• Maintain, adjust, modify, test, diagnose, and repair an aircraft’s structural integrity as well as maintenance systems.
• Work with specialized aviation and power tools, computers and diagnostic equipment
• Conduct scheduled maintenance tasks.
• Keep timely and accurate records of the repair and maintenance activities that were conducted.
• Carefully observe all procedures, rules and regulations when performing any task.
• Be thoroughly familiar with, and put to use, safety procedures and safe work practices.
• Use the appropriate PPE for tasks/jobs.
• Maintain a clean and productive work area.
• Work efficiently alone and as part of a team.
• Read, understand and adhere to the Safety & health Policy Statement, Company Occupational Health & Safety Manual, Company Policies and Procedures and the MPM.
• Utilize the company reporting system to report any hazard, incident or accident.
• Enter labour in the labour tracking system accurately for all tasks performed.
• Perform work in accordance with all Transport Canada guidelines and the MPM.
• Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate brings:

• Enrolment in an accredited Structures AME apprentice program or graduate of Transport Canada accredited AME diploma program
• Good organizational skills
• Proficiency in English, written and spoken
• The physical ability to sit or crouch for extended periods
• The physical ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods
• The physical dexterity to allow working in confined spaces
• The ability and willingness to travel and deploy outside of Winnipeg for 2-4 weeks at a time.
• The ability and willingness to work shift work.
• Have ability to work at heights
• Be willing and able to travel for 4 weeks at a time.
• You are eligible for an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and Controlled Goods and ITAR Clearance
• Have or can obtain a Canadian passport
• Hold a valid drivers license
