Job summary

J.S. Held seeks a Technician to lead drafting and design for restoration projects across residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings after incidents. The role supports project managers on site and in the office.

You will obtain on-site measurements, develop detailed restoration drawings in Revit, and ensure quality with cross‑disciplinary teams. A mix of fieldwork and office work is expected, with strict deadlines and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• College 2- or 3-year certificate in a related field from a recognized educational institute.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in structural design, with specific expertise in wood frame construction.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and CAD software.
• Familiarity with the Alberta Building Code.
• Strong technical acumen and ability to oversee assigned projects.
• Proven ability to work within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain architectural and structural measurements and prepare rough sketches on site.
• Research failure modes and code requirements and prepare reporting and permit drawings for restoration work.
• Develop structural design and drafting of detailed drawings for restoration using on-site sketches with Revit.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company expectations.
• Review and provide feedback on drawings for quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, building owners, and officials as required.
• Manage time to meet strict deadlines.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on assignments.
• Adhere to safety protocols and PPE on sites.
• Seek feedback and pursue growth opportunities within the organization.
• Address concerns with superiors and accept support for improvement.
• Engage in continuing development to stay updated and competent.
• Foster a positive work environment with clear communication.
• Advance through progression stages per EFE Standards.
