Job summary

Hatch Ltd. is seeking a Structural Engineering Trainee in Mississauga, ON, for new graduates. The role supports the structural discipline on heavy industrial building and equipment support structures, reporting to the Structural Discipline Lead Engineer from the Mississauga office.

Candidates should be pursuing a Civil Engineering degree with a Structural focus, and have coursework in structural analysis and design. Travel to project sites may be required as opportunities arise.

Qualifications

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2027, or recently graduated, with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities
  • Preferred courses include Structural Analysis, Structural Mechanics, Reinforced Concrete Design, Structural Steel Design, Foundation Design
  • Preferred advanced courses include Structural Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Seismic Design
  • Previous coop and/or internship in structural engineering is an asset
  • Academic or work experience with SAP2000 and/or STAAD.Pro, MathCAD, and Bentley MicroStation CAD software is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to apply engineering principles to perform calculations for structural analysis and design of industrial building and equipment support structures and foundations
  • Work collaboratively to share results with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups
  • Prepare calculation reports to support results, to be checked by seniors and used to support engineering documents
  • Become knowledgeable of structural analytical software, codes, workflows, and foundation systems

Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:

Compensation:

Range: $81,000 - $84,000
