Job summary

Stantec is seeking a structural engineer to join our buildings team in Montréal to design concrete, steel, and timber structures and perform the structural calculations for plans and specifications. You will collaborate with project teams, architects, and clients across Québec and may lead multi-disciplinary assignments.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 3 years’ experience; OIQ membership is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is preferred.
  • Experience in the consulting engineering industry is an asset.
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written, is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural calculations for plans and specifications.
  • Design and develop plans and specifications for building projects.
  • Conduct structural surveys and inspections of building structures.
  • Prepare studies, technical reports, and expert assessment reports.
  • Provide technical and administrative support during construction site reviews.
  • Oversee structural work during the construction phase.
  • Lead structural engineering projects and manage client follow-ups on budgets and schedules.

Looking to contribute to exciting building projects as part of a recognized structural engineering team? Join our group of more than 75 professionals and put your expertise to work on a wide variety of projects across Québec. Based out of our Montréal, Laval, Trois-Rivières, Québec City, or Longueuil office, you will collaborate with project teams, architects, and clients to design concrete, steel, and timber structures, while performing the structural calculations required for the preparation of plans and specifications.

More specifically, you will:

  • Perform structural calculations required for the preparation of plans and specifications;
  • Design and contribute to the development of plans and specifications for building projects of varying scope and complexity;
  • Conduct structural surveys and inspections of building structures and framing systems;
  • Prepare studies, technical reports, and expert assessment reports;
  • Provide technical and administrative support during construction site reviews;
  • Oversee structural work during the construction phase.

Depending on your background and interests, you may also:

  • Lead structural engineering projects, including multidisciplinary assignments;
  • Manage project follow-up with clients, particularly regarding budgets, schedules, and quality of services delivered.

Your Background- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Relevant experience in the consulting engineering industry (a strong asset);
  • Dynamic, proactive, and team-oriented, with a strong focus on collaboration;
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written, to collaborate on a daily basis with internal teams outside Québec and/or with clients (an asset).

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
