Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineering Graduate / Structural EIT to join our growing team in Kitchener, Ontario. This entry point offers diverse projects, from commercial buildings to infrastructure, with mentorship from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
  • Ontario driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Willingness to work from the Kitchener office two to three days per week
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from senior professionals

Responsibilities

  • Build analytic and design skills
  • Conduct structural engineering designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under supervision
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
  • Work within budget and schedule under supervision
  • Prepare and review contract specifications including cost estimates and quantities
  • Undertake site inspection of structures within a prescribed methodology
  • Provide site reviews to monitor contractor performance and attend site meetings
  • Apply standard techniques and procedures to engineering tasks to develop judgment

AECOM islooking for a talented Structural Engineering Graduate/Structural EITto join our growing team in Kitchener, Ontario.

This new position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to launch their career in structural engineering while working on diverse projects ranging from commercial buildings to infrastructure developments. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to the design, analysis, and documentation of structural systems while developing your technical expertise and professional skills.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Buildanalytic and design skills
  • Conductstructural engineering designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Usecomputer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
  • Performwork in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision
  • Prepare and review of contract specifications including cost estimates and quantities
  • Undertake site inspection of structures within the framework of a prescribed methodology
  • Provide periodic site reviews tomonitor a contractor’s performance in construction, including attendance at site meetings, and preparation of site visit reports
  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
  • Valid Ontario G driver’s licence with a good driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to work from the Kitchener office two to three days per week, in accordance with the team’s current hybrid work requirements.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from senior professional
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous internship, co-op, and/or work experience in structural engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software including AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, and Revit
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and BIM coordination
  • Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities,supported by manual calculations and spreadsheet-based analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management tools
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green building standards
  • Eligibility to obtain Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance, including the ability to satisfy the applicable residency and background verification requirements.
  • Relocation is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
