Job summary

AECOM in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a seasoned Structural Engineering Manager to lead our buildings group. The role blends client-facing leadership with technical oversight, and requires guiding a team of engineers and technicians in delivering complex design projects on a hybrid schedule.

Based in Burnaby, you will come to the office 2-3 days per week and collaborate across disciplines on transit, municipal, commercial and institutional projects.

Qualifications

• University degree in structural engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering designation is required.
• 15+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering design.
• Supervisory/lead experience is a strong asset.

AECOM Buildings + PlacesArchitectural business is seeking a Structural Engineering Manager to join our team. This position is based in our Burnaby, BC office on a hybrid work schedule.

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

Job Summary

We are looking for someone ready to take on the challenge of building our structural engineering team! This is your opportunity to show off your leadership abilities and leave a lasting impact. We are looking for someone who is willing to come to the Burnaby office 2 - 3 times a week.

Major Responsibilities

• Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
• Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
• Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.
• Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
• Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
• Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
• Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
• Manages group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

University Degree in Structural Engineering + 15 (fifteen) years of relevant experience in structural engineering design.

Professional Engineering designation required.

Preferred Requirements

15+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering design.

Additional years of experience an asset.

Supervisory/Lead/Management experience a strong asset.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $150000 to $180000.
