Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Structural Designer to join our growing Drafting & Design team in Mississauga, Ontario. The role requires producing high quality, cost effective, detail 3D designs and general arrangement drawings. The designer will, in general, work under the supervision of the Principal Designer, Project Lead Designer, Lead Discipline Design Engineer or the Project Lead Engineer.

Responsibilities

1. Be proficient in all aspects of 3D MicroStation software (and preferably OBD) and to use those skills within the Lycopodium defined CAD procedures.
2. Be proficient in the supervision of up to three subordinate personnel.
3. Be proficient in the layout and detailing of materials handling and mine plant design in their nominated discipline.
4. Produce design drawings that are consistent with industry standard techniques and that comply with Lycopodium drawing office and CAD procedures.
5. Demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Be capable of producing design drawings within the project defined budget hours for the defined deliverable document.
7. Demonstrate a sound understanding of fabrication and construction techniques.
8. Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
9. Check design drawings as required.

Expertise Required

Essential

1. Proficiency in Bentley 3D Microstation software.
2. An approved diploma qualification in Engineering Design Drafting of their discipline or directly related industry experience of 10 years.

Desirable

1. Proficiency in Bentley Open Buildings Designer (OBD) software.
2. Working experience with ProjectWise online file storage software.
3. Greater than 15 years in relevant Discipline Plant Design process plant design.
4. Effective supervision of drafting personnel.
