We’re Hiring: Structural Design and Airworthiness Engineer – Permanent – Kelowna, BC
We are seeking an experienced Structural Design and Airworthiness Engineer to join a Design Approval Organization (DAO) in Kelowna, BC.
This is an excellent opportunity for a structural engineer with strong aircraft modification, STC, and certification experience to take a key technical role supporting multiple aviation programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead structural analysis and substantiation for STC programs, including equipment installations and airframe modifications
- Perform stress, fatigue, damage tolerance, and repair assessments
- Develop and review structural substantiation reports, load analyses, engineering drawings, and certification documentation
- Establish certification plans and means of compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable FAR/CAR 23, 25, 27, and 29 requirements
- Support TCCA, FAA, and EASA certification activities
- Conduct aircraft surveys and installation reviews
- Interface with DAO delegates, Transport Canada, and other regulatory authorities
- Support multiple concurrent STC development programs
- Collaborate with avionics, systems, and mechanical engineering teams
- Review supplier structural documentation and qualification data
- Develop structural content for Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA)
- Serve as a subject matter expert for structures and structural certification
Qualifications:
- Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of aircraft structural analysis and certification experience
- Experience with STC structural substantiation and certification processes
- Strong knowledge of FAR/CAR 23, 25, 27, and/or 29
- Experience with FEM/FEA and classical structural analysis methods
- P.Eng. designation or eligibility
- Transport Canada Structures Delegate designation or eligibility is highly desirable
- Rotorcraft structural certification experience is an asset
- Composite structures analysis and repair experience is an asset
- FAA DER Structures experience is an asset
- Experience with avionics equipment installations, including racks, trays, and antenna attachments, is beneficial
- Willingness to travel as required
