TransAlta is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist in Calgary. The role focuses on developing commercial strategies, analyzing spend and demand, and negotiating Master Service Agreements with OEMs and suppliers.

You will collaborate with Legal, Engineering, and Operations to balance value, flexibility, and risk, while driving end-to-end sourcing initiatives. The position requires 10-12 years of experience in strategic sourcing, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive complex

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; SCMP or equivalent designation is an asset.
• 10-12 years of progressive strategic sourcing or contracting experience, including supplier negotiations.
• Strong experience developing, negotiating, and administering MSAs and other commercial agreements.
• Ability to independently review terms, identify where Legal involvement is required, and balance risk and value.
• Analytical skills with spend, supplier, pricing data to inform sourcing strategies.
• Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills balancing cost, risk, and long-term supplier relationships.
• Proven ability to work across functions and with senior internal stakeholders, Legal, technical teams, and suppliers.

Mansioni

• Develop and negotiate MSAs and other commercial agreements with OEMs, service providers, and strategic suppliers.
• Translate business requirements into sourcing and contracting strategies with stakeholders.
• Review terms, identify risks, and determine where standard or alternative provisions apply.
• Collaborate with Legal on high-risk contractual matters while progressing commercial provisions.
• Develop contracting approaches addressing pricing, warranties, liability, indemnities, insurance, and change management.
• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives from identification to evaluations, benchmarking, and total cost of ownership analyses.
• Lead supplier negotiations and develop strategies to improve outcomes while protecting company interests.
• Support supplier performance and governance through KPIs and reviews.
• Identify opportunities to standardize agreements and consolidate suppliers.
