Job summary

Manitoba Hydro is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to develop and execute procurement strategies across major external spend categories, reporting to the Manager of SCM - Strategic Sourcing.

You will lead cross-functional teams, analyze spend data, and negotiate complex contracts, while aligning with trade agreements and corporate policies. The nine-day work cycle supports work-life balance for a dedicated procurement professional.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering with 5+ years related experience
• Diploma with 7+ years supply chain experience including sourcing and contract management
• 2+ years leading cross-functional teams to achieve sourcing objectives
• MBA or professional designation is an asset
• Experience with public sector procurement, spend analysis, contract management and supplier relationship management
• Must be self-motivated with strong time management and problem-solving skills
• Advanced knowledge of public procurement principles, procurement law, and trade agreements

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to generate value through spend analysis, supplier competition, demand management and lifecycle costing
• Collaborate with internal customers to integrate procurement strategies into investment plans and projects
• Lead cross-functional sourcing and category management teams for large/complex procurements
• Execute complex procurement processes and advise on high-risk, high-value purchases
• Foster innovation and engage internal customers to maximize value from external expenditures
• Analyze data and perform external market and competitive analyses
• Lead sourcing events and evaluate supplier responses
• Negotiate complex contracts and prepare executive presentation materials
• Develop and lead supplier relationship management programs for assigned contracts
• Build relationships within SCM and with internal customers
• Work with procurement functions to ensure contract compliance
