Job summary

S&C Electric Canada is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Assistant (Co-op) to support procurement projects, develop strategies, and analyze spend data. You will work with cross-functional teams on supplier negotiations, RFPs, and contract terms while building category plans.

This 8-month co-op starts in Winter 2027, offers hybrid work, and pays an hourly rate between $21.80 and $27.00 CAD, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a post-secondary degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or related field.
• Eligible for an 8-month co-op term starting Winter 2027.
• Understanding of sourcing, category knowledge, and supplier management experience.
• Strong organization and multi-tasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify suppliers and build strategic relationships for Capital Equipment and MRO.
• Understand market conditions and communicate trends to stakeholders.
• Support RFP/RFQ/RFA and negotiation processes to create value.
• Collaborate with Legal and stakeholders to negotiate contract terms.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to manage the supplier portfolio.
• Develop and execute category strategies, vendor pool, and sourcing plan.
• Monitor supplier performance and KPIs; track commitments in ERP.
• Ensure contracts are entered and maintained in the system.

Work Arrangement

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The hourly pay range for this position is $21.80 - $27.00. Individual pay within this range is determined by several compensable factors, including the year of study, type of academic program, and the number of prior co‑op work terms completed.

Join Our Team as a Strategic Sourcing Assistant (Co-op)

The Strategic Sourcing Assistant is responsible for assisting in sourcing projects, creating procurement strategies, data analysis for spend categories, contract T&C compliance and liaising with cross functional departments for cost reduction targets and supplier performance goals are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Identifying suppliers and developing strategic relationships for Capital Equipment and MRO.
• Understanding market conditions and effectively communicating trends/forecasts to stakeholders.
• Supporting the RFP, RFQ, RFA and negotiation processes - with a focus on creating value.
• Working in conjunction with Legal and stakeholders to negotiate contract terms and conditions.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to effectively manage the supplier portfolio.
• Developing/executing category strategies, vendor pool and sourcing plan.
• Managing supplier performance. Developing and monitoring KPIs for key suppliers.
• Ensuring contract commitments are met and entered in ERP system.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

• Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree/diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Sourcing, or a related field
• Enrolled and eligible for a 8 month Co-op term starting in the Winter 2027 work term.
• General understanding of sourcing, category knowledge & supplier management experience.
• Organized and has skills to multi-task several projects with several team members.
• Self-starter, high initiative, persistent and curious.
• Possesses strong initiative to understand a problem and work independently to solve it.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and strong with excel.
• Previous work experience in a supply chain or operations environment preferred.
• Database skills and ERP experience is a plus.
• Language: English, basic French Language a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.

Physical Effort

Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 20lbs.

Work Environment

Acceptable working environment with minor or almost no disagreeable or challenging working conditions as part of everyday expected levels (all jobs will occasionally experience undesirable or disagreeable events).
