Job summary

Aplin seeks a strategic, hands-on Controller to lead a growing finance team in Calgary, AB. This fully in-office role requires CPA designation and 7+ years in accounting/finance, with strong Canadian standards knowledge and ERP experience.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, tax compliance, and internal controls.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial process improvement.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience in residential construction, real estate development, or a project-based environment is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process and deliver accurate financial statements on schedule.
• Prepare management reporting, variance analysis, and executive dashboards.
• Oversee financial reporting for all related entities and provide profitability analysis to support business decisions.
• Ensure financial obligations are managed accurately and on time.
• Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models supporting business planning.
• Maintain the integrity of the ERP system and continuously improve financial processes, reporting, and data quality.
• Oversee internal controls, tax compliance, audits, banking requirements, and regulatory reporting.
• Partner with Operations, Sales, and senior leadership by providing financial insights and supporting cross‑functional initiatives and special projects.
