Job summary

The City of Vernon is seeking a Procurement Specialist to manage stores, inventory, and procurement for operating maintenance and MRO stock. You will evaluate bids, negotiate terms, and expeditiously manage orders to meet schedules.

Requirements include two years as a Buyer, knowledge of purchasing protocols, and strong computer skills (Excel, purchasing software). This on-site role offers diverse responsibilities within Municipal procurement.

Qualifications

• Solid purchasing/inventory systems & procedures knowledge.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management, staff, suppliers and the public.
• Knowledge of purchasing techniques, procedures, and research methods; warehouse and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate prices, volume discounts and terms to obtain best value for City of Vernon purchases.
• Procure equipment, materials and services for operating maintenance and inventory MRO stock.
• Expedite orders and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery; resolve discrepancies and returns.
• Maintain inventory records, perform annual physical counts, and reconcile with General Ledger.
