Job summary

The Government of Alberta seeks an accomplished Inspector to lead strategic operations and community safety within the Alberta Sheriffs Police Service framework. You will guide policing strategy, risk management, and compliance with laws and human rights standards in a complex environment.

As an inaugural ASPS member, you will help transition personnel and resources to the new service, oversee divisions such as Highway Patrol and Investigative Services, and strengthen public trust through

Qualifications

• 15 years of policing experience with five years in senior leadership.
• Experience leading complex policing operations and diverse teams.
• Knowledge of policing legislation, policies, standards, and federal/provincial/municipal frameworks.
• Experience building relationships with law enforcement partners, government agencies, Indigenous communities.
• Demonstrated political acuity, sound judgment, and strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to integrity, accountability, fairness, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Lead policing operations and support services to meet ASPS goals.
• Play a critical role in establishing the ASPS and transition of personnel and resources.
• Provide leadership in community safety, stakeholder engagement, and organizational development.
• Oversee portfolios such as Highway Patrol, Investigative Services, and Intelligence.
