Job summary

Modern Niagara is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead MEP preconstruction activities from pursuit through tender and handover. You will develop budgets, assess risks, and optimize constructability for complex projects, working with clients, consultants and trade partners.

You will provide technical leadership on mechanical and electrical building systems, coordinate BIM/VDC, and guide design development and estimates to position projects for successful execution.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience within MEP construction, estimating, preconstruction or project management.
• Experience with design-build, negotiated, construction management and/or stipulated-price project delivery models.
• Professional designation such as P.Eng., CET, PMP or Gold Seal is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP preconstruction activities from project pursuit through tender and transition to Operations.
• Establish the overall MEP preconstruction strategy aligned with project objectives, schedule, budget and procurement strategy.
• Participate in schematic design, design development and construction document phases providing MEP input.
• Review drawings and contract documents to identify scope, risks, and inconsistencies.
• Develop and maintain MEP scopes of work for mechanical and electrical systems.
• Lead or support design-assist activities and provide technical recommendations to owners and partners.
