Job summary

Leduc County is seeking an experienced Planner – Long Range Planning to support strategic land use planning and provide advisory services to internal and external stakeholders. You will assist on long-range initiatives, prepare plans, review referrals, and present findings to Council.

The role requires a planning degree and 2 years in long-range/regional planning, with membership eligibility in relevant associations.

Qualifications

  • A degree in planning or a related discipline.
  • Two (2) years of experience in long range and regional planning.
  • Must maintain or be eligible for membership in professional planning associations.
  • Knowledge of Alberta land development bylaws, MGA and related regulations.
  • Ability to read engineering plans and planning/environmental reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Senior Planner and Manager on long range planning initiatives.
  • Prepares and reviews statutory and non-statutory plans and related documents.
  • Reviews intermunicipal and inter-agency referrals related to statutory documents.
  • Provides planning information and advice to the public and organizations.
  • Carries out special projects, studies and reports as assigned.
  • Presents to Council and public; supports public consultation and hearings.
  • Maintains records and property files.
  • Adheres to county policies and directives.
  • Ensures compliance with OHSA and participates in Health, Safety and Wellness program.
