Job summary

RioCan is seeking an Analyst, Internal Audit and Compliance to strengthen internal controls, risk management and regulatory compliance across our real estate portfolio. You will run audits, test controls, and present findings to leadership to drive improvement.

The role requires a university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; a professional designation or progress (CPA/CIA); and at least two years of internal audit experience, preferably in real estate or financial services.

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• Professional designation (CPA, CIA, or equivalent) or in progress.
• Minimum 2 years of progressive internal audit experience; real estate/financial services preferred.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk assessment, and audit methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to management.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Co-Pilot).

Responsibilities

• Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls, identifying opportunities for process optimization, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance (including NI 52-109).
• Execute comprehensive internal audit engagements, from planning to reporting, across multiple business functions and processes.
• Perform detailed fieldwork, including testing of policies, procedures, and controls, and document findings.
• Prepare clear audit reports and present recommendations to management and key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
• Actively contributes to the development and implementation of enterprise risk management (ERM) initiatives by identifying, assessing, and monitoring key risks across the organization, and working with business units to design effective mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with the Internal Audit and Compliance team, external auditors, and other business units to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach to risk management and compliance.
• Stay current with emerging trends, regulatory updates, and industry best practices relevant to internal audit and real estate operations.
• Support special projects and ad hoc assignments as required by management.
