Job summary

Humber River Health is hiring a Human Resources Business Partner to serve as a strategic partner to business leadership, providing expert HR guidance across labor relations, policy interpretation, and workforce planning. The role supports 5,000+ employees across Humber River Health’s sites.

The successful candidate will lead investigations, advise on collective agreements, and develop training for managers, with a focus on equity and inclusion in a large hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in HR Management or Labour/Industrial Relations required or equivalent experience.
• CHRL certification an asset.
• HRPA membership in good standing preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources in a fast-faced unionized environment; healthcare preferred.
• Alternative Dispute Resolution certificate an asset.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable employment and labor laws and acts.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to assigned client groups, providing proactive HR planning and risk mitigation.
• Interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures and collective agreements; contribute to policy development.
• Manage complex employee grievances and investigations; oversee dispute resolution.
• Liaise with union stewards and maintain open communication.
• Attend arbitration/mediation and collective bargaining; prepare minutes and follow-ups.
• Conduct investigations, prepare interview questions, and recommend actions.
• Analyze data to identify trends and advise management.
• Partner on HR policy development and program implementation.
• Develop and deliver training programs for managers.
